Aquisições Brasileiras Sandra Gamarra

29/11/2006 - 13/01/2007

Sandra Gamarra, a Peruvian artist based in Madrid, Spain, became known for creating an imaginary museum – the LiMac (Museum of Contemporary Art of Lima) – through which she explores and appropriates works by artists of her choice. In this exhibition, LiMac presents its latest acquisitions of artworks by Brazilian artists at Galeria Leme.

This selection does not aim, in any way, to summarize Brazilian contemporary art. On the contrary, by exhibiting this set of works, it seeks to induce a new dialogue, using the same medium – painting – signaling other points of convergence and divergence.

Sandra painted pages from catalogs and books of various artists in different sizes, including names like Sandra Cinto, Vik Muniz, Leda Catunda, Iran do Espirito Santo, Nelson Lerner, among several others.
