Germana Monte-Mór

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 1958.
Lives and works in São Paulo, Brazil.

Germana Monte-Mór is a graduate in Fine Arts from FAAP (1989), in Anthropology from IFCS-UFRJ (1982), and holds a master’s degree in Visual Poetics from ECA-USP (2002). Despite the strong experimental character of her works, Monte-Mór remains faithful to the exploration of form. The relationship between figure and ground, chromatic contrasts, and the different textures of the materials used are explored by the artist through the unprejudiced use of techniques and materials.

For the past ten years, her production has focused on painting. In some works, she overlays one perforated canvas onto another, creating a play of light and shadow within her compositions. Monte-Mór has held solo and group exhibitions in the São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Belo Horizonte circuits since the 1990s.,/p>

Tiago Mesquita da cabra. galeria marília razuk sp, 2013 Germana Monte-Mór works in the most varied media. She obtains remarkable results. Her thinking, which initially stemmed from the way drawing organizes space, has expanded, into translucent works, photographic images, sculptures, objects.
