Gabriela Giroletti

Porto Alegre, Brazil, 1982.
Currently lives and works in London, United Kingdom.

Gabriela Giroletti, a contemporary Brazilian artist, is known for her innovative approach to abstract painting. With a degree in Fine Arts from Middlesex University and a Master’s in Painting from the Slade School of Fine Art, her academic background has been essential to her experimental research. Focused on pictorial language, she uses abstraction to explore sensory and emotional experiences, incorporating elements such as color, line, and texture to evoke the natural world. As a result, her work challenges the viewer’s conventional perception, suggesting multiple interpretations and expanding the boundaries of painting.

Moreover, throughout her career, Giroletti has combined painting, photography, and video, using tools she creates herself, which gives her works a unique presence. Consequently, her experimental research brings her creations closer to sculpture and reinterprets traditional techniques, highlighting the inventive potential of materials. Indeed, her solo exhibitions in international galleries have solidified her position in the art world, with her work recognized by collectors and curators. Therefore, her production continues to have a significant impact on contemporary art. Additionally, she is constantly seeking new forms of expression, expanding the horizons of abstract art. Ultimately, her contribution to the arts is marked by continuous innovation and a unique vision of reality.

Gabriela Giroletti: Breezy

Painter Gabriela Giroletti gives insight into her motivations, artistic influences, and techniques, on the occasion of her solo exhibition Breezy at Kristin Hjellegjerde Gallery, London in 2021.

Studio KIND. presents: 'At Once and a Touch Away' by Gabriela Giroletti

Gabriela Giroletti talks to us about her new body of work, available to visit at Studio KIND. in Braunton or as a virtual exhibition at www.studiokind.org.uk. Studio KIND. is a new artist-led contemporary gallery, project space and studios, located in the heart of North Devon. Founded as a community interest company in 2020, Studio KIND. presents the work of both local and national, early-career and established artists through an ambitious and diverse programme of exhibitions and events, curated to excite imaginations, challenge perceptions and create connections. Studio KIND. is run by Richard Gregory and Laura Porter. Gabriela Giroletti is a Brazilian-born painter living and working in London. Through her impasto painting style, Gabriela is developing a unique symbolic glossary, characterised by the constant tension between the pictorial and human presence - the imagined and the material. Existing somewhere between abstract and figurative, painting and drawing, micro and macro, body and nature, still life and landscape, simple and complex, her work performs a push and pull game between body and mind; making and thinking.
