Felipe Rezende | Improper Art

Group Exhibition

The “Improper Art” exhibition challenges traditional notions of ownership and authorship in contemporary art. Inspired by the Situationist concept of “détournement,” the show explores the reappropriation and resignification of everyday objects as a form of political subversion. It emphasizes collective creation, questioning the institutional limits of art and territorial boundaries. With the participation of artists such as Felipe Rezende and groups like JAMAC, the exhibition includes specially conceived workshops and interventions, workshops and interventions were carried out especially for this exhibition, with the participation of JAMAC, in addition to works from the collection of the Museum of Visual Arts at Unicamp. Thus, “Improper Art” proposes a critical reflection on art as a tool for social transformation and deconstruction of established paradigms.

Felipe Rezende is an artist who explores drawing and painting in an expansive way, incorporating elements of everyday life into his work. Using unconventional supports such as truck tarps and tires, he creates works that reflect urban experiences and narratives. His research focuses on the universe of manual labor, creating imaginaries that blend dreamlike qualities and reality. Rezende transforms found objects into compositions that challenge the boundaries between fiction and testimony, offering a unique perspective on urban and labor life.
