A fashion design graduate of Universidade Cândido Mendes (Rio de Janeiro), Maia is a visual artist, fashion designer, and artisan from Santarém, Pará, known for creating prints for the Brazilian textile industry. Over the past five years, Maia has expanded his artistic practice into painting, collage, and drawing, investigating his roots in Brazil’s North through memory, mythology, and folklore, and exploring how nature takes on a psychoanalytic dimension within present-day experience.

In 2024, he took part in exhibitions in São Paulo, including the solo show “Desejos Guardados sob o Rio” (Desires Kept Beneath the River) at Paço das Artes, “Se o Futuro Trouxer o Passado de Volta” (If the Future Brings the Past Back) at 25M, and the Salão de Artes Visuais de Vinhedo (Vinhedo Visual Arts Salon). He was also a finalist in the 14th Prêmio Garimpo DasArtes 2024. In 2025, together with the Los Angeles gallery M+B, he participated in the group exhibition “Magic Echoes: Brazil Diasporas’ Vibrant Encounters with Ancestrality” and in the DOMO DAMO art residency.
