For the third edition of Arpa, Galeria Leme presents a series of new works by the artist Ana Elisa Egreja. The series, “Vidros Fantasia,” returns to the artist’s research on the universe of refurbishments, focusing on the visual effects of this typically Brazilian and inexpensive construction material. In these works, Egreja’s typical sceneries are now observed through the lens of textured glass, resulting in a peculiar distortion of the objects depicted.
The artist focuses on uncovering a combination of shades of red, pink and purple, colours loaded with symbolisms for heat, passion and femininity. However, by placing these objects side-by-side, she reveals unexpected combinations. The series deeply explores nostalgic collective memories by capturing what often goes unnoticed in our daily lives and investigating our emotional connections with seemingly banal objects.
